چکیده

Previous studies have shown that grafted neonatal chicken testicular tissue can develop and produce functional sperm; however, it was unclear whether regenerative processes or proportional growth caused the re-appearance of spermatogenic tissue. We dissociated testicular tissues, performed subcutaneous auto-transplantation of the re-aggregated cells to castrated cockerels, and monitored the post-surgery development of these transplanted aggregates. We found that these transplanted cell aggregates experienced compensatory growth in the form of a 300-fold increase in size, rather than the 30-fold increase observed in normal testis development. Further, these dissociated testicular cell aggregates restored seminiferous tubule structure and were able to produce testosterone and motile sperm. Therefore, we concluded that the dissociated testicular cells from 11-week-old cockerels retained a strong regenerative potential, as they exhibited compensatory growth, restored destroyed structure, and sustained spermatogenesis.

Predicting the adult daily sperm output after the first ejaculates in cockerels raised under different photoschedules.

In M33 cockerels, the rapid phase of testicular growth and the onset of sperm production were advanced either by increasing daylengths or an interrupted-night photoschedule; they were delayed by constant short days (8L). The results observed under constant long days (16L) were intermediate. In this strain, the cockerels maintained their mean testicular weight during the adult period while their...

Histopathological and immunohistochemical characterization of testicular T-cell lymphoma in a dog

Canine lymphoma is the most common neoplasm of the hematopoietic system with the most frequently diagnosed malignancy. Also, dogs affected by T-cell lymphoma displayed a lower rate of complete chemotherapy response and have a high risk of death in the early stage of the disease. A 5-year-old male mixed dog was presented to the Small Animal Hospital, School of Veterinary Medicine, Shiraz Univers...

Identification of various testicular cell populations in pubertal and adult cockerels.

Precise identification of the male germinal stem cell population is important for their practical use in programs dedicated to the integration of exogenous genetic material in testicular tissues. In the present study, our aim was to identify germinal cell populations in the testes of pubertal and adult cockerels based on the detection of the nuclear DNA content by fluorescence-activated cell so...

Effect of Phosalone on Testicular Tissue and In Vitro Fertilizing Potential

Background The current study aimed to evaluate the effects of phosalone (PLN) as an organophosphate (OP) compound on testicular tissue, hormonal alterations and embryo development in rats. MaterialsAndMethods In this experimental study, we divided 18 mature Wistar rats into three groups-control, control-sham and test (n=6 per group). Animals in the test group received one-fourth the lethal dose...

Effects of Black Plum (Vitex doniana) Leaf Meal Inclusion on Performance, Haematology and Serum Biochemical Indices of Cockerels

A total of 105, 14 weeks old cockerels weighing 1.49 ± 0.023 kg were used to investigate the effects of Vitex doniana leaf meal (VDLM) on performance, haematological and serum biochemical parameters in cockerels over a seven-week experimental trials. The cockerels were divided into three (3) treatment groups of 0%, 5% and 10% inclusion levels of VDLM in a completely randomized design layout. Th...
